About : Markets in Provence

Visiting markets in Provence is a great way to get a glimpse of their rich culture and also a good place to purchase Provençal art, food and furniture.

The markets generally start around 8am and finish at about 1pm so it is worth getting there early. Most towns have a market one day a week. In smaller towns this usually takes place in the town's square.

Food markets in Provence are both social and practical events. Locals buy their weekly shopping and socialise with their friends and neighbours in the colourful aromatic atmosphere and with its pleasant climate, Provence has perfect market weather.

Lorgues market: every Tuesday morning. It's one of those events that bring a quiet town to life for half a day winding down by early afternoon. The market sells food from around the world and fabrics, herbs, honey, plants, shoes, clothes, gifts and much more.

Antiques markets in Isle sur la Sorgue: Thursday and Sunday mornings. For visitors to Provence who want to take home some shabby-chic from the place that invented Provençal style. The Sunday market is very busy with lots of stalls and shoppers but the Thursday one is less overwhelming.

The markets also have a large range of arts, crafts, linen, tablecloths and food. If you want a taste of Provençal culture and to socialise with the locals, markets in Provence are the perfect place for you.
