Nature
Between Digne, Gap and Barcelonnette, this little piece of Switzerland lost under the Provence skies will make you want to practice winter sports in every season!

The launch of the Montclar station is also the materialization of a love affair tying the inhabitants to their region. Indeed, it was founded in 1971 thanks to members of the mountain community, who, recognizing the impending death of their villages by the gradual departures to the city, decided to personally invest to promote this exceptional site. Surrounded by conifer and hardwood forests, the place benefits from a panoramic view over the Serre-Ponçon lake. Nature seems to have tried its best to reproduce to perfection, and in three dimensions, a landscape that only exists in stories…
Forty years later, this family-friendly station in the heart of the White Valley has become the ideal winter meeting place. With it’s two ski areas – each one on a different mountainside, 32 tracks covering a total of 50 kilometers, and fifteen ski lifts, it’s a paradise for skiers, but also for snow-lovers of the milder sort. We’re talking about those people who would prefer watching the most intrepid members of their family in safety from the terraces of the three high-altitude restaurants of the resort, while being seduced by the dance of the sun on the powdery snow.
Because far from only targeting adult skiing pros, the station also offers many activities for children, both big and little ones. The former are welcomed into activity groups where they can discover the joys of snow with instructors via supervised activities, and will perhaps take their first lessons “schuss!”
And the older kids can of course ski, skate or even snowboard, but the adolescents will surely let themselves be tempted by more unusual activities. Montclar offers rides on reindeer (much cooler than dog sledging). Yes, in Montclar we do nothing like everyone else!
