Hotels and Spas

In the heart of the Luberon, the Bastide de Marie offers calm and Provençal style serenity, in a setting filled with vines and sunlight. Here’s our guided tour.

Our car crunches across the gravel of the driveway. The gates open slowly, and then we park straight away. A few steps further and we pass through a small door and enter a charming little courtyard. On the left, a swimming pool follows the lines of the walls of the old house. Inside the home, we find a vast living room with its big stone fireplace and comfortable sofas. To the side, a staircase goes up to the first floor, passing in front of a big bookshelf made of painted wood. The Bastide de Marie takes an individual approach to the standard canons of the luxury hotel

business. Here we’re more in the universe of a guesthouse, to which the simple, considerate and efficient welcome of the staff testifies. Mr. and Mrs. Sibuet have adapted the Fermes de Marie concept, which is such a success for them in Megeve. They provide an unforgettable setting in which one can truly appreciate the passing of time, while enjoying a cup of coffee in the shadow of a hundred-year-old lime tree or savoring, once evening comes, wines produced on the property, over delicious meals… Period furniture, linens and prints decorate

he 14 bedrooms, each boasting a comfort beyond anything we could imagine, while shady terraces lead to gardens planted with herbs and lavender. The spirit of this 18th century farm has been respected, and the adaptations necessary to satisfy the demands of an international clientele have been carried out with taste. So the spa is discretely housed in two little rooms conducive to relaxation. Near the old pond converted to a bi-level pool, fans of gypsy style escapades can even sleep in a luxury caravan, decorated in warm tones of red, orange and bright turquoise.

This time we’ve set our hearts on the Bleu de Nîmes room; facing west, it allows us to watch the sun set over the vines tonight. Then we’ll dream that we still have a piggy bank to break in order to return to live these timeless moments once again.
