Let me remind you how to get there: if you step over the Ouvèze stream and follow the Route des Hautes Ribes, you’ll find yourself at the end of this typical and charming little farm. Ivy has patiently covered the farmhouse, forming a vernal, protective armor around its old Provençal stones. As soon as you park your car and step onto the grounds, your biological clock with instinctively re-set itself to the calming rhythm of the region, as if you had never left. But what makes it so magical? The Ferme des Sablons represents the perfect family abode, where you are always welcome. It’s like returning home—even if you don’t come

from the Vaucluse region. Frédérique Calamel, the owner of this magical place, has created a unique and evocative world for all to enjoy, where her delicious mix of bric-a-brac offers an inviting environment for guests… that is, if you haven’t already been enticed by the pool and its adjoining teak terrace. upon each encounter, as if they were happy strangers. The courtyard seems almost like a breakfast advertisement: the sun hitting the immense table around which friends and family are gathered, the children playing in the garden or reading comic books in mismatched, brightly-painted wooden arm chairs, the beginnings of an early summer glow on the skin, before the real heat sets in…

Three bedrooms are available to choose from, depending on your preference. The proprietor has given each room its own character: Provençal bedspreads and Japanese lanterns, which hang over the headboards, encourage sweet vacation dreams. If you prefer a spring-like ambiance, take room A, which is decorated all in green and white, with cushions in Vichy fabric. Or is it the sea

that’s calling you? You’ll find your haven in room B, which seems to have come straight off a cruise ship on its way to the Mediterranean islands. And if you want to make your Provençal heart beat, then room C is for you in its shades of white, gray and red, and its rural, nostalgic décor. How can you not feel at ease in this environment, where everything has been arranged to make it seem just like home?
