Aix-en-Provence has resuscitated its luxury hotel business with the opening of this high-end establishment on the Cours Mirabeau. Come on our private tour of its suites and rooms…

From your balcony, the view over the tops of the plane trees will make you feel like you’re in the country. We’re enjoying this exceptional panorama from one of the suites of the Hotel de Gantès. Since July 2011, this luxury establishment located at the top of the Cours Mirabeau has welcomed its guests to a universe uniting the modern with the traditional.

This beautiful 17th-century mansion takes its name from François de Gantès, public prosecutor to the King of France, who resided here around 1660. After that,

the address had a succession of owners including a certain Guion, who transformed the ground floor into a locale for aristocrats to gather in 1790. After grim quarrels between revolutionaries and local nobles, the estate regained its peaceful nature in 1792, the year the city’s most famous café, Les Deux Garçons, was established.

The entrance to the hotel on Rue Fabrot is rather discreet, an advantage for certain visitors who, hoping for a quiet stay, even have the option of privatizing an entire floor of the hotel.

Although the elevator takes you from the lobby to the different floors with no effort, don’t miss the magnificent staircase, which underwent special refurbishments for its decoration and lighting. Eleven rooms and suites with lots of personality are available, inspired by famous personalities and regulars at the Deux Garçons (Picasso, Cézanne, Zola…) or to themes linked to the city of Aix-en-Provence , such as water, theater and cinema. The comfort is total, just as desired by the developers of the hotel. With the latest renovations, the décor has incorporated motifs inspired by renowned artists, while each room recalls the history of the building and respects its traditional elements.

The first-rate soundproofing prevents the buzz from the Cours Mirabeau, an often-noisy hotspot, from seeping into your room. The Hotel de Gantès has most certainly brought together all it takes to become the setting for a charming stay in the heart of Aix-en-Provence.
