Staying at the Château de Rochegude is a little like taking a fantastic voyage back in time; a sort of timeless interlude within a breathtaking environment that allows you to totally disconnect from the worries of the real world. And what better than to live this experience with the person you love, for the festival of love, Saint Valentine’s Day? The 12th century castle, with its fortress overlooking the Côtes-du-Rhone vineyards and facing the Ventoux Mountain, is located in a magnificent, beautifully maintained 10 hectare park, populated with deer. On the property: a raised outdoor

pool, many gardens and terraces, and a walking track where guest may encounter deer or other local fauna. Once inside the building – the former summer residence of the Marquis de Rochegude, restored by Violet-le-Duc – the decoration places emphasis on history with four-poster beds and period furniture. The place, affiliated Relais & Château, possesses 25 rooms which admirably succeed in mixing modernity and authenticity. If the furniture is very old, the colors used in the decoration are very contemporary, as are the forms and the volumes. Of course, it goes without saying that the service is impeccable…

A genuine medieval get-away, a visit to Château de Rochegude is also centered on good food! In the region, the truffle is king. So it’s entirely natural that the tuber melanosporum has pride of place of Thierry Frebout’s table. The chef of the hotel’s fine-dining restaurant sometimes even offers to accompany food lovers to the Richerenches market, open until March and an absolute must-see! For Saint Valentine’s Day, Thierry Frebout has devised a special menu including semi-preserved foie gras, scallops and scampi roasted with mild spices, fillet of beef with Ventoux saffron and chocolate delight. We are already dreaming of the Prince Charming who will take us on this special adventure.
