Decorator, stylist, author, photographer… Jeanne Bayol unites a range of artistic practices, deftly, skillfully, and with a gypsy’s vision. She has her roots in Saint-Rémy de Provence, where her family has been based since the 15th century; the lady has a soul and a taste for travel. After studying fashion in Paris, she learned the ropes of the industry in a Parisian fashion house, before returning home to an art gallery. Then, approaching her 30th birthday, she left to discover other continents: North Africa, India, Australia, Latin America… From these

voyages she brought back fabrics, colors, patterns, shapes… and as many sources of inspiration that we discover in her store Les Verdines, open since the spring, where she has at last settled down.

In her boutique, a real Ali Baba’s cavern, she presents bright dresses sewn out of African prints, one-off pieces, small series of delights, just for you. The fabrics are those that Africans make their boubous out of. Jeanne finds them in Marseille, in a textile house specialized for three generations in these fabrics. She also brings back enough to cover sofas and

armchairs, giving them a simple but contemporary style. Wandering through the store, you come across ochre pots, you try on pearl jewelry, necklaces, bracelets… Jeanne Bayol’s world evokes that of a collector of precious pieces. You won’t be able to resist. Before leaving, you flick through the pages of the books about caravans. In love with gypsy culture, Les Verdines is another name for a caravan ; Jeanne’s passionate about these vehicles from another time. She decorates them, revives them with colors, red, green, yellow, giving them new life. They become guest bedrooms, offices or just somewhere to just get away.
