Hilltop villages, small animated towns and farmer’s markets… this is just a first sketch of the assets of Luberon. It’s well-known to buyers that here, quality of life comes with proximity to the Marseille airport and major roads, and the TGV train station without spoiling the tranquility of the area. The relatively large area includes precious villages like Gordes, Ménerbes or Bonnieux, which define the famous ‘golden triangle’ for investment. Gordes, facing the Luberon natural park, dominates the valley from the Vaucluse Mountains. This South-facing region, with its stonewall houses running all the way down to the plain, give it a particular, chic and very popular character. A little further to the east towards Apt, the village of Goult, with its reputable storekeepers, has acquired an excellent reputation.
It’s a secret that everybody knows, when you look for a future home and particularly if it’s a holiday home, location is the deciding factor. And this must be the reason that Provence is one of those privileged destinations where it’s so wonderful to buy. The Luberon, a little paradise in the Vaucluse region, has become a highly coveted destination in which to invest.

On its north slope, Ménerbes, Oppede and Bonnieux are the essential spots in the Petit Luberon area. Surrounded by vines and standing on rocky peaks, these villages are so attractive because they allow one to settle in to houses located at their very heart. Their charm is due, amongst other things, to the authenticity of the construction and preserved remains. It’s difficult to build in the surrounding lands that belong to the Luberon National Park, as the area is still protected. However, you find the famous “Mas”, or traditional farms, which sometimes retain the traces of their former activities and today are very popular private residences.
For wide-open spaces with a wilder nature, head for the Grand Luberon and

its villages Saignon and Céreste. And finally, on the southern slope, towards the town of Aix-en-Provence, Lourmarin has also won over a varied, international clientele, under the charm of the sun-filled narrow stone alleyways. Sometimes after having rented, one is drawn back to the Luberon to buy. It’s a good investment, with a stronger value than the stock market!
