Whether you’re just a novice, or already an expert in decoration and design, Emmanuel Peltier welcomes you to his store where he will show you the design of tomorrow, Marseille style!

Located in the Noailles neighborhood in Marseille, Detour Design takes you, as soon as you pass the window, on a colorful voyage through a very, very well decorated world! Since opening in late 2009, the store has welcomed within its walls a variety of pieces including classics by Gae Aulenti, as well as works created by newer names in design. If our interiors are always a reflection of our personality, an eclectic mix of our tastes and discoveries of the moment, then Emmanuel Peltier exemplifies it. A former distributor of French furniture in Britain, he proposes a cutting-edge selection that one feels has
been created by a genuine aficionado. The manager selects the designers by instinct, privileging those who are still little known to the French public but who carefully work noble materials like wood and steel, such as the German company Muller, manufacturer of metal desks in over 200 different colors, or Element, a specialist working in solid oak… He matches his discoveries with care, sometimes by color, by mood, or form, in his long narrow store. This unusual lay-out permits you, throughout your “detour,” to crisscross a number of universes, by mixing light wood with touches of color, experiencing ergonomic
shapes and efficient lines, or acquainting yourself with sixties design, or the trendy minimalism of today.
Emmanuel Peltier creates a dialogue in his store by exhibiting the designs and decorations of local artists, a genuine place of exchange where he acts as a go-between. You might fall in love with a plate by Snowden Flood, or a graphic rug, a photograph or a designer sofa by a young, local talent, like Les Nénuphares by Stéphanie Marin . Your house will seem dreary when you return!
