The shop is small, but bursting with very large pieces of chocolate. With nearly 300 varieties on offer, it has already seen three generations of women: the grandmother, Rosette; the mother, Michèle; and today the grand-daughter, Marine Leray, who has opened a second boutique in the center of town and moved the atelier to the Endoume neighborhood. The company nevertheless remains human in scale, with its artisanal production of fresh chocolates with “neither butter nor cream…” But sometimes made with olive oil or salt !
The Chocolatière du Panier
It’s a bit like Berthillon on the Ile Saint-Louis: you can’t pass through the Panier neighborhood without stopping in front of the chocolate shop’s window… and then finding yourself pushing open its door.

The creations vary according to what is in season. For the holidays, the “Barres” and “Tranches”—the two specialties of the house—are complimented respectively with ginger, chestnuts in syrup, cranberry banana or fig and walnut, raspberry and hazelnut… get hooked on their special dark chocolate with onion, ginger, almonds, pistachios and raspberry, all in one piece! And it’ll be love at first bite for the fantastically refined dark chocolate and fresh cinnamon, which is as much of a pleasure to taste as a fine wine.
