the devotion of hundreds of volunteers. It creates an atmosphere conducive to some great times. It’s sometimes said that, on certain evenings in the park surrounding the Château de Florans, even the leaves on the big trees shiver with delight.
Over the years, thanks to its success, the festival has taken over other stages, each one more lovely than the next: the old quarries in Rognes, the Théâtre des Terrasses in Gordes, the Cucuron church, Château-Bas and the Silvacane Abbey. It’s an excellent way to reach out to as many people as possible.

Since the event was set up back in 1981, renowned artists and future stars of the keyboard have regularly taken over the mythic stage with their talent: Boris Berezovsky, Zhu Xiao-Mei, Brigitte Engerer, Anne Queffélec, Alexandre Tharaud, Marie-Josèphe Jude, Hélène Grimaud, to name just a few, have delighted the thousands of aficionados who attend this world famous summer event.
It starts with a walk. In this early evening, it’s still light, and the low stone walls reflect the heat of the sun, which beam down on the village of La Roque d’Anthéron. We go back up a wide avenue of plane trees and hundred-year-old redwoods till we get to the stands set up outside. On the stage is a superb acoustic shell, entirely remodeled in 2007.
