Ménerbes is one of France's unique perched villages (villages-perchés). It is surrounded by colourful, scenic views and is home to a 16th century castle and nestled inside the 'golden triangle' (as it is sometimes referred to) of Luberon.
Truffle tasting in Ménerbes
Ménerbes like many towns in Provence has beautiful and historic architecture which reveals a lot of information about French history and culture.
Interesting buildings include the castle and the town square which is beautifully framed by 16th and 17th century buildings.
Visit during the summer and you can taste the truffles made at the Maison de la Truffle et du Vin du Luberon in their onsite café/ restaurant.
The Maison de la Truffle et du Vin du Luberon is an educational facility which specialises in wine, truffles and olive oil.
Ménerbes close to neighbouring towns and villages
Ménerbes has few hotels, a characteristic that makes it even more charming. But it is possible to find somewhere nice to stay and as it is close to neighbouring towns and villages it makes a great base for visitors wanting to explore Provence.
If you want a real taste of Provençal culture you can rent a farmhouse or apartment and sample the delightful food available at Luberon's many delis.
For those fascinated by perched villages and with a taste for truffles Ménerbes is the perfect place to visit.
