Lourmarin's cultural charm

Lourmarin has typical Mediterranean features such as winding narrow streets and restored buildings, meaning you can see a lot of old France in this village.
Café culture is buzzing here, and you can see tables outside on terraces throughout the warm summer months.

Lourmarin sits in the middle of vineyards, almond trees and olive groves, so the food is as you'd imagine in this place – local and full of flavour.

Seeing the village's 15th-16th century castle is a must, as is the Romanesque St. André church. The region of Provence is famed for its history, and there's plenty in Lourmarin.

If you're visiting Provence in general, Lourmarin is a perfect base to explore from. Its location in the very heart of the Lubéron means Aix-en-Provence is about 30 minutes to the south and Avignon 45 minutes to the west.

Locals will also boast to you that this location was the home to Albert Camus, the Nobel Literature Prize winner who spent his time writing in Lourmarin. There are many villages surrounding Lourmarin, housing more hotels and restaurants, meaning you have much of the Provence close by from here.
