About Cavaillon

The quaint and historical town of Cavaillon in Provence is nestled neatly below Saint-Jacques hill in the Durance Valley. The hill provides a lush green backdrop to the town which is part of Lubéron's regional nature park.

Cavaillon a historical place

Like many towns in Provence, Cavaillon has a rich history and its architecture is a reflection of this from the old Cathedral to the remains of Roman Baths.

The elaborate entrance arcs of the town's former Roman baths can be found in the main square. The arcs date back to the first century yet they are still beautifully preserved.

Sample the town's renowned sweet Melon

The cafés and restaurants that surround the main square in Cavaillon serve delicious Provençal food and it is worth trying the Cavaillon Melon while you are there. The fruit is the town's tasty trademark.

Although often only used as a crossing point to get to the South of France Cavaillon has much to offer its visitors from the luscious backdrop of Saint-Jacques hill to the old Cathedral and flower filled fountain.

Like many places in Provence it is full of character with a charm unlike anywhere else. A visit to Cavaillon is very much recommended!
