About : Rosemary

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) is an aromatic herb that flourishes in the Mediterranean climate. The plant produces pink, white, purple or pink flowers and has spiny evergreen leaves, similar to the pine tree's leaves.

Rosemary in Cooking

Rosemary has been used as an ingredient in numerous recipes for many years. It is not only fragrant but also adds flavor to food especially meats like turkey, pork, chicken and lamb and is often added to the ingredients of stuffing.

Naturally Scented Skincare

Nature is a large part of the charm of Provence and the region produces many ingredients that are used for sumptuous skincare products. The oil from rosemary is extracted for use in such products as it rejuvenates and cleanses the skin. It is ideal for oily skin but also has properties that can benefit most skin types.

The sweet smelling plant is used to prevent depression, tiredness, to improve memory and for relaxation.

Greek mythology says that the Greek Goddess of beauty, Aphrodite, had the herb draped around her neck as she appeared from the sea.

Rosemary in L'OCCITANE Products

Over 35 years ago, a young man named Olivier Baussan distilled rosemary to obtain its essential oil, which he then sold in the local markets of his home in Provence. This man is the founder of L'OCCITANE, a company which still uses rosemary in some of its products today.

L'OCCITANE has combined rosemary with other nourishing ingredients to create a number of face, body and hair care products. Notably, rosemary is often an ingredient in the L'OCCITANE Aromachologie line which combines essential oils in a variety of shampoos, conditioners and shower gels for an enriching and fragrant shower experience!
